Once upon a time, a man planted a calabash vine.
The slender vine was covered with green leaves and bloomed several snow-white little flowers.
After the flowers faded, several calabashes hung on the vine.
What lovely little calabashes! The man went to check them many times every day.
One day, he found some aphids crawling on the leaves.
He thought to himself: A few bugs are nothing to worry about!
Staring at the calabashes, he talked to himself: “Grow quickly, my little calabashes! Grow bigger than a big pumpkin!”
A neighbor saw this and told him: “Don’t only focus on your calabashes. There are aphids on the leaves. Get rid of them quickly!”
The man felt confused and replied: “Why should I kill the bugs on leaves? All I want is the calabash itself.”
A few days later, there were far more aphids on the leaves.
The small calabashes turned yellow little by little and dropped off the vine one after another.
